ear infections

Ear infections are no fun thing.  Unfortunately it seems our kids get them often. They can be very painful and sometimes we have no clue that our kids even have one.

I had an awesome thing happen today.  I took my youngest daughter to her well-baby check up this morning at the doctors office.  He said everything was looking good, she was finally growing (she had acid-reflux really bad, which we fixed with DigestZen) the only thing was that her ears were really waxy.  Normally he would just leave them be, but he couldn't see past the wax.  So he was worried, that maybe her hearing my be affected by the blockage.  He decided to clean out the wax.  Super fun....let me tell ya :)  Holding your daughter down to have someone stick a long stick down your daughters ear, is not my type of fun!

Anyways, after that was all cleaned up he looked down her ears again and was SHOCKED at what he saw.  Her ear was bright red inside(ummm ya you just had a stick down it!) and it was pussy.  He asked if she had been running a fever or sick the past couple of days.  She hadn't been and he was really surprised.

He said we should probably treat her with some antibiotics to help clear it up.  I told him, I don't think we will need it.  I can cure ear infections with my essential oils at home.  He stopped for a minute and was like "OK" well I am going to call in the prescription, just in case..... ha, ha!!

It feels soo EMPOWERING to know that I can take care of my kids and not have to fill that prescription and shove that yucky stuff down my daughters throat!  So, right now she has a cotton ball with Basil, Frankincense and Lavender in her ear.  I seriously love doTERRA Essential Oils!

Life Long Vitality Vitamins......

I must say these are a MUST HAVE in our household! 

When I first found out that doTERRA had vitamins I was thinking great, I need a good vitamin.  At the time I was just taking my prenantals, cause I had just had a baby.   So, I thought I'll check them out and try them. 

 A vitamin is a vitamin right..............WRONG!!! 

Soo not true.  The LLV(lifelongvitality) vitamins are AMAZING. 

I got my first pack of vitamins and started taking them, by day 3-5, I was feeling a HUGE burst of energy that I didnt have before.  I had a babe so, I wasn't getting a whole lot of sleep and yet I wasn't dragging butt by noon, like I had been before.
 I thought I'm sure it will wear off eventually being the total skeptic that I am. It didn't wear off.  I just kept on trucking, feeling sooo much better then I had for a long time.  It was seriously crazy. 


I kept taking them for probably about 3 months straight and the next month on my order, I needed a couple of different things that cost a little more so to save money I took my vitamins off my order.  BAD IDEA!  The first couple of days without them were ok, then after that is was downhill from there.

About a week without them, my hubs asked me what was wrong with me? 

I was like WHAT (not in a very nice tone i'm sure)? 
He said you are off your vitamins aren't you? 
I said yes, I was... WHY?!?!
 He told me. I don't care how much they cost, you NEED them :)  You are soo much more calm, nicer, less emotional and few other things, I can't remember.  (He was trying to put it nicely, but basically saying I was a WITCH with a "B" without them!  ha,ha! )

It is getting that time of year again......sick season!  Yuck!

I have a love/hate relationship with the cold weather season. 

Love the change to cooler weather and that means light sweaters and jackets where I live. But HATE what kinds of sickness the weather brings with it!

So with using doTERRA Essential oils, there is a solution to the problems!

Bring on the ON GUARD!  This is one bad boy of an Essential oil.  With a blend of Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary.  The oils in this blend have been studied for their strong abilities to kill harmful bacteria, mold and viruses.  This blend can be diffused into the air or used to clean and purify household surfaces.



This is one of the daily oils that gets rubbed onto the bottoms of my kids feet, both morning and night.  I also diffuse OnGuard in the air at least once a day.  If I know that a sickness is going around at school, I make sure that it is diffusing when they get home.  Also, I will dilute 1-2 drops in a quart size mason jar and add some to their glasses of water, so that they are getting it internally as well!

We have learned so many things.

But One quick tip: If you put 3 drops of On Guard in 32 oz glass spray bottle and spray surfaces, MRSA will not grow for 7 days!

My AWESOME hubby planned a weekend getaway for the 2 of us a couple weekends ago.  We were both soo excited to have a fun no kids weekend, to say the least it was WAAAY over due....like 2 years :) 

Anyways, the day came that we were to leave and I was packing all of our junk (cause I ALWAYS pack for like 5 days when I am only going to be gone 2!!) and my stomach started feeling a little queasy.  I thought to myself.....oh great, this is JUST what I need.  So, I kinda ignored it and hoped it would go away.  Well.....it didn't. 

Hubs came home from work and looked at me and instantly knew I didn't feel good.  I told him it was nothing just my stomach a little upset, we were STILL going :)  So, I went to the bathroom one last time before we headed out!  By the time we got to the gas station about 5 minutes away, I was feeling really yucky!  GREAT....I'm thinking.  I seriously don't want to be sick.  I didn't say anything to my husband while he pumped the gas, I didn't want to ruin anything.

So, I reach behind the seat and grab my oils!  Why hadn't I done this earlier....dummy :)  I didn't have all of my oils with me I had left most at home with my mom for my kids, just in case.

I did have ONGUARD, PEPPERMINT and FRANKINCENSE.  So I start rubbing my belly with all 3 of them then I grab my bottle of water and drop 3 drops of peppermint and start drinking it.  Hubby gets back in the car and can smell the oils and looks at me like uh oh!!  I told him I'm fine, lets get the heck out of town!

So, I continue to rub the 3 oils on my belly and drink my peppermint water.  Maybe 20 minutes later, my queasiness was completely GONE and I felt soo much better.  My stomach never hurt not even a little bit after that!

It is so nice to have something to turn to in moments like this! Otherwise, I don't know how much fun our trip would have been.

Yeast infections...........

The other day I got a text from one of my friends, asking if I had any extra Melaleuca that she could buy from me, unfortunately, I didn't!  I told her I could make a sample bottle of it for her to get her by, till she got some more.  She thought between her and her mom's stash they would have enough for her sister-in-law to use. 

We got to texting back and forth and to find out, her poor sis-in-law was pregnant and had a yucky yeast infection!  IF you have ever had one of these then you totally understand how AWFUL they can be!

She was going to just use the melaleuca for that.  I told her that I had some CINNAMON and that it works wonders for those types of infections. I offered that I could run some to her sis-in-law if she wanted me to,  so she asked her and she was like please :)  So, I took some over to her later that afternoon and let her know that I had already diluted it, because Cinnamon is super warm. I only put ONE drop of cinnamon in with about 20 drops of doTERRA's fractionated coconut oil and took it to her.

Then I forgot about it for a couple days until I talked to my friend again.  She said that her sister-in-law had used over the counter medicine, and a PRESCRIPTION for her infection and neither of those had worked.  Then, she used the cinnamon and Melaleuca and OVERNIGHT she was soo much better! 


It really is amazing how fast doTERRA essential oils work.   
I was happy to help them and so glad that it worked and helped to relieve a pregnant woman of her miserable infection!

Every morning, while doing my daily routine of oiling up my kids for the day, I make sure that I rub one drop of this on my wrists and rub together.  I can tell a HUGE difference in myself.  It really is amazing, but I know that my kids and hubby sure do love it :)

traveling with oils...

Last week my sister in law Kiley sent me a text it went something like this:
'what oils stop puking!'

My 12 year old niece was sick and they were in the middle of vacation, traveling.
Naturally my first thought was GINGER!
She didn't have it.
I asked if it was sickness or motion sickness.
She thought it may be FOOD POISONING!
(I must add that Kiley is an EMT and Nursing student so when she diagnoses something I take her word)

She told me she had Peppermint and OnGuard with her.
So after looking in the MODERN ESSENTIALS book I suggested she use PEPPERMINT and ONGUARD.

a few hours later I text-ed Kiley to see how the patient (my niece) was doing and she was up and about doing well.

Is the summer heat getting to you? Cool down and feel energized by adding a drop or two of Peppermint and Wild Orange in your hands and rub together.  Then smell the wonderful aroma and rub on the back of your neck.  You will instantly feel more refreshed and ready to go!

If you are going to be outside for awhile and don't want to get overheated, in a glass spray/spritz bottle (you can get them pretty cheap at your local health food store or aromatools.com) add a few drops of each peppermint and wild orange and fill the rest with water.  Then as you go throughout the day spritz on your face and back of neck to keep you cool and refreshed.  It works amazingly well!

HEADACHES/MIGRAINES...

I am not a big headache person.  I don't get them all that often, but it seems like when I do, they are some doozies :)

I know lots of people who get headaches/migraines all the time.  After the last one I had last week, I really do feel for them.  Mine was so severe that I was vomiting and sobbing from the pain.  To say the least I was MISERABLE.  I honestly appreciate my non-headache status after that one.

Let me tell you my story:
I woke up on Tuesday morning feeling a little off, my eyes hurt and was a little dizzy.  I really didn't think to much about it, as I made the kids breakfast.  Little while later, the hubs called and said he needed a few things from town.  I thought I'll run and grab them really fast in town and come home, no biggie.  So I made a mad dash and got the kids dressed and ready to go in about 10 minutes---then headed to Thriftees to get what the  hubs needed.

While I was driving I started feeling really dizzy, thankfully we were just a minute or so from the store.  As I got the kids out of the truck, I told Britt we HAVE to hurry and you HAVE to help Mommy!   So we did!  I felt like it took us forever, but in all reality we were in and out in 5 minutes- a record I'm sure.  I could barely keep my eyes open and was really worried about driving home.  So I said a little prayer to help us make it home safe and amazingly I drove really SLOW and we made it!

When we got home I sent Britt to get my mom and she came up and helped me get the kids inside and told me to lay down. I headed for my bed, but the urge to throw-up overcame me and I spent the next 10 minutes in the bathroom.  My head was KILLING ME!  It honestly felt like I was being stabbed, really hard and really fast.  I was sobbing. I had NEVER, EVER had a headache like this before.  I finally made it to my bed and my mom is worried!  She thought that maybe I needed to call my husband to come and take me to the ER while she kept my kiddos!  I really didn't want to go there and sit, since I was so miserable, but I was considering it!

I told her I would try to lay down and maybe it would subside.  While I laid down she called my younger sister Jaci, and said what do we do and what oils do I use.  Jaci being the awesome sis that she is gave my mom a list of oils and how to apply them.

1-2 drops of each of these on each location:
Frankincense- top of head and base of neck
PastTense- base of neck and forehead
Wintergreen- base of neck
Serenity- base of neck
Peppermint - base of neck and forehead

My mom applied them on me and left me on my bed in tears to rest.  Within about 2-3 minutes I was OUT cold.  I slept for 2 1/2 hours (during that time my mom said she would come and check on me to just make sure I was still alive) and woke up feeling amazingly better!  My mom was almost in shock, she honestly couldn't believe I felt better.  She seriously thought with the way I was that I would end up at the hospital to get some kind of pain killer or something to relieve the pain.

I honestly believe that if I didn't have my doTERRA Essential Oils to help me I would have ended up sitting in the ER for hours waiting for them to help me or not ( cause sometimes they send you home, saying there is nothing we can do!)

I hope that sharing this will help someone else out in the same situation.  Because, I can't imagine going through that again and I know there is people who do on a daily, weekly basis!

Lemon water

I love doterra's Lemon oil.
L O V E it. period.

I use it for lots of things like frosting, recipes, and on my 3 1/2 year old's cradle cap/dandruff flaky stuff on her head--which worked wonders by the way.

Lately, I've been adding it to my water and I'm loving it.

I grew up with my mom drinking lemon water, so it's nothing new to me.
I put a gallon *glass pitcher full of water with about 3-4 drops of lemon in it and drink that when I'm thirsty.

It quenches my thirst, is very refreshing, and gives me a citrus-y boost. And heaven knows I can always use a boost. Since Lemon is a cleasing oil I get the added bonus of it cleansing and detoxifying my body of toxins daily.

* use a glass pitcher because Lemon is a cleasing oil and will eat away plastic (trust me--I have cups to prove my point) and I don't want to drink plastic.
